You Don’t Get Paid to Watch TV…

how to use your time productively

Who Gets Paid to Watch TV?

Well, I don’t and I’ve not heard of anyone who does. A number of my students have told me that they spend hours watching TV and being entertained on Social Media. Every day they promise to be more productive as they watch others develop their products and turn a profit with their crafted wares.

So instead of watching TV or spending hours on Social Media you could be making gorgeous designer handbags or painting up a slew of ready-made clothing, shoes, bags, and craft.

Are You Benefitting From the Shows You are Watching?[spacer height=”10px”]

Have you noticed recently that the folks making the movies are getting rich off of those who just want to sit in front of the tele? Then there are those who have decided not to and are using their time to make steady advancements.

You may not get rich overnight but you sure will be better off sharpening a skill and selling your wares. Doing so is better than constantly watching something that takes you further away from your destiny.

Now once you get in the groove you may want to turn on the tube.  But until you begin exercising some of your God-given abilities, your entertainment should be put on the shelf…if only for a season. I’m all for a good belly laugh or a time to curl up on the sofa to watch a great, life-changing movie every now and then but not at the expense of my future.

You can learn, love and laugh all the way to the bank with your clever self if you really want to. You say you’ve tried and fallen flat on your face so many times that you have given up. Now being entertained is your lot in life.

Just Don’t Quit- You Could Be On The Verge of Your Breakthrough![spacer height=”10px”]

Thankfully Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken did not give up after his many rejections. At the age of 65, he persisted with his idea of selling his chicken recipe. The Colonel was rejected 1009 times before he got his first yes. We get rejected a couple of times and quit. Walt Disney was turned down 302 times when he sought financing for his theme park. Now look at Disneyland; who would have thought?

Thomas Edison the man who is said to have invented the light bulb claimed not to view a failure as most folks do but saw it as another learning lesson to improve what he was working on. Edison said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” I really like what he said about opportunity. He said it is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work; now that my friend, mashes so many of our corns.

You really haven’t failed yet, have you? You are merely in the middle of another lesson on the road to your success. It’s all in the way you look at your situation really. There are usually at least two voices talking to you; one encouraging you to shake off the dust and keep moving; the other, well that’s the crippling voice of doubt, fear, and condemnation.

Listen to the Right Voice[spacer height=”10px”]

So move with the voice that celebrates you and pushes you closer to achieving your destiny dreams in life. Make a bag; paint a shirt, run the marathon; only just get busy moving towards your dream. Now that’s the picture you will get paid to watch… and you will be the star of your very own show.

Practically speaking here’s what you want to do; look first at what you have in your hand:

You have a sewing machine or a desire to sew, or perhaps you sell straw bags and tee shirts and they look exactly like to store next door. Learn how to take your products to another level. You can use what you have to get what you need if you are willing to put a little time and effort into it.

Many folks go searching the world for gold only to find it was always in their backyard. Work what you have until it’s sales worthy- you may get a few people buying inferior products from you for sympathy but you won’t have repeat customers. Never sell anything because it’s good enough…sell because it’s great and represents you well.

If you need to get help to take your work to a higher level or simply to diversify your product, invest in it; freebies are for the casual crafter; it will take you only so far. Successful business people invest in developing themselves. This is your business, your dream; if it comes too cheap you won’t value it and neither will your customers.
